Where We Went: M Cafe in Beverly Hills

Why We Went: After a long week of glutenous eating, we wanted to do a body good and headed out for some macrobiotic food which we have heard so much about. We also had a 30% off coupon from Blackboard Eats, which didn’t hurt, so we called up Francis and Heidi who are regulars to show us the ropes.

What We Wore:

Amanda: Equipment Silk Shirt, Vintage Denim Shorts, Urban Outfitters Tights, Jeffrey Campbell Wedges, Vintage Belt, Ray Ban Sunglasses

Sarah: Vintage Dress, Zara Booties, Vintage Belt

Julia: Seneca Rising Jumper, Barney’s Label Sweater, Marc Jacobs Handbag, Sanuk Shoes

What We Ate:

Albacore Tuna Salad Sandwich $9.75 with romaine lettuce, sliced tomato and red onion on your choice of multigrain, sourdough or wrapped in a whole wheat lavash

Big Macro Combo $11.95 The Big Macro & Small Fries with glass of Iced Minty Green Tea or Lemonade

The Bento Box (served cold) $8.50 (veg) with assorted steamed vegetables, inari sushi, soba noodle salad, housemade pickles and carrot-ginger dressing with Teriyaki-Glazed Tofu

Kale with Spicy Peanut Dressing & Sesame Soba Noodle Salad $7.45

Chocolate Cake $4.50

What Made Us Laugh: Julia’s paparazzi-like camera direction and clicker speed while we posed on Rodeo. We heart our new Canon Rebel.

What We Learned:  Macrobiotic eating is all about whole foods, natural foods eaten in season, and little to no food processing.  M Chia Cafe has created tasty items  without the inclusion of eggs, dairy, red meat, poultry, or refined sugars. It’s pretty similar to being a Vegan, yet you can enjoy fish and other creatures from the sea. Also, be sure to check out Heidi’s blog- Hyperkult- for some of her fashion and food finds!
